I couldn't put this down once I started....

Here I am again, having to take back when I said "I don't read PNR (paranormal)". How does Lisa Olsen do it? Once I started reading, I couldn't put Scarlett Moon down. I found myself getting so wrapped up in Scarlett and Kane's story that before I knew it, I was at the end.

If you read Moonsong (which I highly suggest that you do), then you already know that Scarlett is the girl who always just disappeared into the background. She leaves Cutter's Folly to start college and to come into her own. She never expects to meet anyone, but somehow Kane shows up and just won't back down. He is pushy and arrogant and... exactly what Scarlett doesn't want. Yet, she can't deny the attraction and how her body comes alive when he's near. The problem? He holds a very big secret. What happens when Scarlett learns about everything that Kane is hiding?

Lisa puts words together and creates a world that makes my real life seem to disappear. Somehow she makes me love characters that at first I didn't really like. I got so caught up in this novel that I might have forgotten to make dinner (it's ok, the pizza place delivers). I was at the edge of my seat, gripping my Kindle for dear life while I tried not to blink... I didn't want to miss even one word. AND, this is a Paranormal book. I have publicly said that I don't enjoy PNR books. Sure, I loved Moonsong, but that could have been a fluke, right? Nope. And today I eat those words and admit I was completely wrong in ignoring an entire genre.

Thank you Lisa Olsen for opening my eyes to a genre I kept skipping over. Your writing did that. Now, please hurry and get Chase's book to me.

What happens when the Big, Bad Wolf shows up at your door?

Scarlett LaRoche just wants to be normal college kid. Problem is, Scarlett isn't quite what she seems. Scarlett is a wolf shifter which is something you can't share with your human roommates. As Scarlett settles in to college life, things start to look up. She's made a few friends and even gone out on a date. She encounters another shifter, Kane, who declares it is his responsibility to protect her. After all, she is an unclaimed female wolf shifter from one of the most powerful packs. As Scarlett tries to get on with life, Kane keeps appearing and Scarlett can't help but fall for his charm and wit....except when he wants to boss Scarlett around. The more she digs her claws in the ground and defies Kane, the more he wants her. Getting Scarlett to joint Kane's pack is his only assignment. If she is just an assignment to him, why does the word 'mate' come to mind when he thinks about her? After an attack on Scarlett and her roommates, she realizes Kane hasn't been quite honest in his pursuit of her. How will she mend her broken heart? After all Kane was just a no-strings attached, college fling, wasn't he?

I love Lisa Olsen's writing. The story is a typical "girl wants to experience the big, bad world" but the heroine isn't your typical girl. She is a wolf shifter from a powerful pack which makes her very valuable to other packs. When we first meet Scarlett, she is scared of her own shadow and I was afraid she would stay weak and timid throughout the story. Was I ever wrong. As Scarlet makes friends she begins to come out of her shell and enjoy life. But when she meets Kane, under a scary situation, her hackles are raised at his brute attempt to protect. In Scarlett's eyes, Kane wants to rule over her and that is not happening. The more Kane tries to boss Scarlett around the more she rebels and we begin to see the strong woman behind the timid shyness. She keeps Kane on his toes when she just doesn't obey his every command. He is not her alpha and she will not submit. As the story progresses, Scarlett finds herself in an even scarier situation in which truths about Kane are revealed. Kane isn't quite the hero we thought he was. Can Kane prove to Scarlett he is her mate or will Scarlett be lost to Kane's deceit?

Another Must Read

Two paragraphs into Scarlett Moon and I was already giddy with excitement! We learn early on that Kane, awesome name by the way, was in the army
, rides a bike, and is a hot but honorable la Are you swooning yet? You will be.

Scarlett, on the other hand, is very much the introvert with an untapped fierceness on the edge of discovery, as she is figuring herself out during her first year of attending college away from Cutter's Folly.

The cameo appearances of Cutter, Millie, and their daughter are exciting and make it feel like home, but the real page turner is knowing this story will be completely different from the first, but just as entertaining.

Some elements of Scarlett Moon are a tad darker than Moonsong, but it makes for a very intense read. When the atmosphere isn't oozing with sexual frustrations, it is light and entertaining. There is an abundance of witty bantering to keep you smiling throughout.

The characters are endearing and instantly likeable. Kane remains a mystery during most of the book, but when his secrets are unveiled you will only love him more for them. Personally, I found every side of Scarlett enjoyable. I can very much relate to her introverted tendencies but I also fell for her tenacious spirit and vivacious attitude.

Prepare yourselves for quite a few plot twists and surprises. Scarlett Moon is fast paced, exciting, and swoon-worthy! A 5 star must read!

Beloved, familiar hymns with a touch of contemporary sound.

I need a lot of practice to be comfortable enough to present music. For me, these arrangements
can be ready in one or two weeks. The lengthier pieces are beautifully drafted so the musician
can shorten them easily without difficult improvisation - just a simple cord or short scale. This
is my second book of arrangements by Melody Bober. I look forward to more.

Fun Book

I ordered this book several months ago along with a few other piano hymn books. When sight reading the songs from my order, I kept coming back to this book. The songs are fun to play and sound great, but are also not to hard ( I would rank myself at mid to late intermediate level). My particular favorites are "Fairest Lord Jesus" and "Our Great Savior". In conclusion, this book is fun to play, pleasing to listen to, and a great way to praise God through the piano.

Excellent insight into the life of the Great 13th Dalai Lama & Tibet in the early 1900's

Sir Charles Bell is one of a priviledged few Westerners to gain access not only to Tibet's 'forbidden city' of holy Lhasa but to a reasonably open and close personal relationship with the 13th Dalai Lama. This amazing opportunity has been eloquently detailed in this book, and it is a fascinating introduction to Tibet in the early 1900's.

This time was an extremely turbulent period in Tibetan history: the British invaded them in 1904, and the Dalai Lama fled to spend several years in Mongolia, China, and then finally India as the British withdrew but the Chinese invaded. Luckily the Tibetans were able to use the overthrow of the Manchu dynasty in China to revolt against Chinese rule but as we all now know the Chinese again took control of this country by force in 1959 and still maintain that to the present day.

Tibet has changed beyond all hope of return since the 1959 Chinese invasion, so this book is unique in revealing what life was like in traditional times. We will never know Tibet again as it was then, and Bell covers a full range of topics from politics to religion, the powerful monastery's and the feudal society that existed.

This book and Bell's perspective is also unique in that the 13th Dalai Lama is one of only two incarnations to be honoured with the title 'Great' (as was the 5th). We get to know a great man of history from a first person account, and the 13th is shown the be an intelligent and driven individual who worked unswervingly hard to improve Tibetan life both spiritually, and in the workings of government and justice.

I read this book within a week it was so good. It covers both the history of the times as well as providing one of the few close encounters with one of the often mysterious Dalai Lama's, so well worth buying!

He describes the hardship, the inconvenience, the discomfort of life on the cold, arid Tibetan plateau in a way that emphasises the dignity of the people who flourish there. That hygiene in Tibet at the turn of the 20th Century was low by the standards of a cultured European is not ignored; but through his eyes we see that the comparison is unimportant in a near arctic climate; the dustiness of a noble's home is insignificant when measured against the hospitality and warmth of a noble spirit. We see that what Tibet lacked in material development it made up for in a level of ethics and philosophical sophistication that might have been the envy of the world.
The Great Thirteenth (The present Dalai Lama of Tibet is the fourteenth emanation) brought his country to terms with the new age. He modernised government, the judiciary, and Tibet's tiny army through sheer hard work and unflinching determination, in the face of fierce opposition from monks and aristocrats. Sir Charles shows us a lonely man driven by a powerful vision. The Dalai Lama desperately tries to redefine Tibet's relationship with its powerful neighbours, Russia, British India, and China, which looms menacingly on the horizon. Both men clearly saw the impending Chinese onslaught, and both recognised the tragedy of what was to befall Tibet.
Sir Charles Bell gives us a unique insight into the personality of the man behind the ritual and pageantry of the Dalai Lama's high office. He shows us a man of profound intelligence and sensitivity, a man of wit and humour, a man quick to anger, a man of compassion. This man, who ruled with absolute authority and was revered as a living god, gave Sir Charles Bell his friendship; and, through his eyes, we see a man of warmth and charm, who loved his dogs and his garden. This is a moving book one should feel very privileged to read.

Yummy guide to Portugal

I've been thinking for a while about visiting Portugal. In particular, the wine region of the Douro Valley. But the general travel guides I've looked at haven't really given me a good sense of how to plan the trip I want to take. As wine is part of the attraction for me, this guide looked interesting.

Not surprisingly, this book has a lot to say about the food and wine of Portugal. But it also gives a good sense of place, the lay of the land, and the landscape and culture to expect. The charm of the country comes through. On the other hand, the authors are honest when a town isn't all that charming, and tell you not to expect much from it.

It should be noted that this book is physically bigger than a typical travel guide, and more for planning a trip than sticking in your pocket for instant reference. I've also spent more time with the Douro Valley section than with other parts of the book, but the whole book seems to have the same flavor and attention to details.

This book has given me what I was looking for.

Nice book. It breaks out valuable info about wineries and great places to eat by region. Author is knowledgeable and clearly loves wind and food.

Get this book- make soccer better.

The drills make sense & are easy to set up. I have already noticed improvements in some of my players. More of them could be illustrated in sections. Maybe this is more important to me as I have the book on Kindle.

very useful case studies. Based on actual events and which bring to life the tensions and misunderstandings inherent in cross culture negotiations. These are very useful for class exercises. PS As an instructor I would like to get hold of an instructors handbook but have not at the time of writing this short review, succeedded.
