Sunil Gulabani is a software engineer based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India). He completed his graduation in Commerce from S M Patel Institute of Commerce (SMPIC) and Masters in Computer Applications from Ahmedabad Education Society Institute of Computer Studies (AESICS). He has been a top ranker while pursuing his master's degree. He has also presented a paper "Effective Label Matching For Automated Evaluation of Use Case Diagrams" on Technology For Education (T4E)—IIIT. Hyderabad, an IEEE Conference, along with senior lecturers, Vinay Vachharajani and Dr. Jyoti Pareek.

Intro to Jersey 2.0

This books gives introduction to JAX-RS 2.0. It presents the features of JAX-RS 2.0 and provides source code examples. It doesn’t require any knowledge of JAX-RS 1.0 and can be used as good introductory manual. However the book requires understanding of the REST architecture.

The books starts with brief introduction to JAX-RS 2.0 and its reference implementation Jersey. The introduction consists of overview of all the features of JAX-RS 2.0, list of the modules that a Jersey application require and how they can be obtained.

The second chapter introduces the Server API. It describes all the building blocks of a REST application and provides example for each of it. This is the biggest chapter of the book and covers all the JAX-RS annotations, rules of injection and usage of sub resources.

In the third chapter the Client API is presented. Again there’s a description for each of the request methods and provides examples how RESTful web services can be consumed.

The fourth chapter describes the different media types supported by Jersey out of the box.

The fifth chapter is dedicated to Server-Side Events. It has examples how they can be used both on server and client side along with examples and the modules required in order SSE to operate.

The sixth chapter is all about WADL and how it can be generated using Jersey.

This book is good introduction of JAX-RS 2.0 and its reference implementation Jersey. It covers basic functionality but doesn’t go into advanced topics like implementing custom media type providers, content negotiation API, dealing with requests and responses manually, validation etc. If you are familiar with REST and look for introductory book about JAX-RS 2.0 this one will do.

Book is well organized.
Easy to read and refer.
Detailed Explanation and example to various annotation are good. I have found few new things such as headerparam and cookieparam.
Good for beginners.

Nothing much new in this book.Most of this stuff is already well explored by all the developers. Jersey is not a new framework and has been around for a while.
I do not know why we need a dedicated chapter exploring JSON and XML with all the marshaling tools. we have been using them for around 10 yrs now..
I do not think we need a chapter dedicated to WADL. WADL is not widely used. this might give the readers a bad idea.

I was looking for a short read with code examples in order to get a quick overview of REST with Jersey. This book did just that. There are other books out there with a lot more content if that is what you are looking for. I got exactly what I expected from this book - the basics.

I would say let your young kids read it, it's all about manners!

This book is meant to help you become a sociable person. It is kind of a guide of ways! It's meant to help you have better conversation, and people at your attention. But it is basically it's also a book of things you should already be practicing, Good Manners!! Most of it my Mama already taught me, say excuse me when you burp, don't interrupt while someone is talking, don't be a bully, hold the door open for others, keep the language appropriate..etc....The only people that MAYBE, need to read this book are kids or young adults, going into the workforce, or someone that wants to come across or portray themselves as confident, so they can be more sociable. Honestly I think they are better off asking good friends for advice, this book is just not as helpful as it should be. It didn't really teach me anything new! I am not even sure why it is titled BOLD when the whole book tells you to have manners lol!! Overall just an ok book, I'll have my 9 year old niece read it, for her it will be good!! I did receive this book in exchange for an honest review. That is my honest opinion on this book!

great for kids not so much adults

This review is of the E-Book so no printed version review from me here. As a whole the book has sound advice, nice tips and some good foundations to better communications.

In all a lot of the books info is nothing new or special and most adults SHOULD already know all these things in general. I would recommended this book to parents to have their kids read it and that would benefit them more.

Youths that have a problem making friends, starting up conversations or just communicating with others should be what this book is main for. It can give them some valuable advice of breaking through that shy wall and being more social and also have good tips to keep a conversation going.

I did receive my book for free to read it and give an honest unbiased review and as far as adults go id say this book is a pass but its a great book to get younger kids.

Great content, poor execution.

I liked the content of this book. It was easy to read and understand and gave some great tips for social, business and personal situations. However, the printing of this book was absolutely awful. The pages printed in black were faded and not a smooth transition. It looked like they were printed on an inkjet printer at home! I highly recommend the company look for a different printing company to give the book the professional touch it deserves. I received this book free but the review is my own.

I bough this book expecting a more through coverage of apparel design. i was somewhat disappointed, mainly due to the fact that you have to buy the partner book, Pattern drafting, by the same authors in order to do anything with the instructions given. Pattern Making for Fashion Design By Helen Joseph Armstrong is a much better, easy to follow book for all levels of the pattern drafter and designer.

It is what is says.. a DESIGNING book

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU ALSO BUY " HOW TO DRAFT BASIC PATTERNS" BY THE SAME AUTHORS. This book is good because it teaches how to use the basic "slopers" (basic patterns) and manipulate them to create OTHER design styles. IT DOES NOT, however, describe in detail how to develop the basic sloper patterns. It skims over that part, showing only brief pictures and giving basic information about the basic slopers and assumes that you already have the slopers to create new flat pattern designs. "How to Draft Basic Patterns" is the companion book that gives detailed instructions( -almost too tediously detailed insturction...) on how to develop the basic sloper patterns. I personally think they made us design students buy these two books in school because it was a chance to cash in on students buying two textbooks for class. The authors could have put all the info of both books into one book- EASILY!! If you want a good ALL IN ONE book that teaches both basic sloper development and design style creation with the flat pattern, one which is also fairly easy to read and "get through" in order to develop your patterns, try the flat pattern written book by Helen Joseph Armstrong.

Not only can one use this information for current styles, but can also apply these techniques for historic and fantasy costume. Wonderfully Insightful

I was first introduced to the writings of Frank Laubach around seven years ago. Before that time, I had no idea who he was or the enormous contributions he had made to society and Christendom. What I have learned since my first introduction to the story of Frank Laubach is that some have called him the “greatest teacher of our time,” Time magazine called him Mr. Literacy. On the anniversary of his 100th birthday (1984), the U.S. Post Office honored him by putting his picture on a postage stamp in their Great American series. Learning all of these facts made me feel a bit silly about never even hearing the name of this great American, but even these accomplishments and accolades do not complete the story of Mr. Frank Laubach.

Laubach was also a Christian missionary commissioned by the Union Congregational church to serve the people of the Philippines. It was during this time that Laubach wrote a number of the journal entries and letters that would eventually be collected and shared with people today.

One of the first essays I read from Laubach was titled The Game with Minutes, which was quickly followed by Letters by a Modern Mystic. I can honestly say these works were a catalyst for change in the trajectory of my personal Christian development and maturity. Some readers may be familiar with the writings of Brother Lawrence in Practice of the Presence of God. Laubach’s writings were, to me, a modern example of Brother Lawrence’s teachings in the respects of living constantly in the presence and the awareness of God.

I was greatly intrigued by the title of Laubach’s book, Prayer: The Mightiest Force in the World. I could only imagine the rich insights this man, who attempted to practice unbroken fellowship with God, might share with his teaching and thoughts on the topic of prayer. I have not been disappointed.

The length of the book is just under one hundred pages and is grouped into a collection of short writings. There is no introduction or preface that provides the reader with any information regarding the collection of these writings, but it appears to me that they might be collected from short essays, letters, and diary entries. Perhaps from this collective stream of writings, this book on the subject of prayer was created. This is only my supposition. The editor of the book has grouped the writings into six chapters or sub-groupings. Chapter one is titled Pray for World Leaders and includes ten essays. The following chapters are arranged in similar fashion with varying numbers of essays. Chapter two is titled Pray for the Church; chapter three is How Prayer Helps God; chapter four is Prayer Experiments; chapter five is Christ—The Answer; and chapter six is Our Appalling Power.

I think there are a couple of points to keep in consideration when reading a book of this nature. First, the origin of the writings should be taken into account. I do not know for sure, but I believe these essays have been collected from several sources, one of which might be personal diary and journal entries. There may be “raw” thoughts and unpolished ideas included in these essays, some of which may not have a clear context. Additionally, some of these writings are dated and flavored from the time they were written and while that may not seem terribly relevant, it is helpful to keep in mind.

I enjoyed the whole book, but my two favorite chapters have been Prayer Experiments and Our Appalling Power. There are some amazing thoughts shared in these chapters that have inspired several great reflections for me. I continue to go back to this little book time and again drawing from the well of this brilliant man who devoted his life to the pursuit of God and service to God’s people. This is great addition to my resources on the subject of prayer.

Mentioned in The Power of Positive Thinking

I don not consider myself a very religious person at all. I read The Power of Positive Thinking and this book was mentioned so I thought it was worth a read. I was amazed by how effective some of the techniques are. It's not preachy at all, just a down to earth guide to using prayer more effectively.
